Haytham El-Wardany is an author currently living between Cairo and Berlin. He has recently published How to Disappear from his series How To. In his writing, El-Wardany investigates different approaches to listening and the different manifestations of sound in society. History does not wait for the sleeping to wake up, rather history is written only by those already awake. The Hanging Garden of Sleep is a literary undertaking that cautiously seeks to approach sleep without waking. In his text, El-Wardany engages with the theme of sleep through three broad questions: the question of identity, the question of politics, and the question of language.
